About Us
New Oak Vineyards was
established in 1998 by the owners Tim and Barbara Gasperino whose dream was
to produce their own wine from the fertile land located near the Missouri river
in Lafayette county.
The vineyard and winery
are named after the Missouri mighty oak trees, which greatly influence the
wines of Missouri, and the wines produced here at New Oak Vineyards. The difference
between the taste of a local wine from a small winery and an imported, mass-produced
wine is the distinctive fresh grape flavor. It’s like comparing concord
grapes from the vine with grapes from the store. The vineyard grows six varieties
of grapes. They include Norton, Chambourcin, St. Vincent, Chardonel,
Vignoles, and Seyval and cover a total of 10 acres. The vineyard surrounds a
10 acre lake which provides enough water to irrigate the plants.
The vineyard and winery
is located near the historical town of Lexington on the Lewis and Clark trail.
Lexington is known for the civil war Battle of Lexington fought in Sep.1861.
Lexington also has the old Oliver Anderson mansion, restored and furnished in
the mid-19th century. In Lexington you will also find many antique shops and
Bed and Breakfasts.
The winery exhibits the
Italian influence of the owner whose roots originated in Northern Italy. At
the winery you will find a tasting room where you can taste the wines and possibly
find one you like. A gift shop area has wine related items and specialty food
items available for your purchase. You will also find a banquet hall that will
seat 150 people for occasions like weddings, showers, and meetings. You also
may buy a glass of wine and sit on the patio overlooking the lake and enjoy
the peace and quiet.
We are located 35 miles east of Kansas
City. For directions, click here.
